Andhra film maker, aide arrested for drug trafficking
2010-02-22 [17:24:05 hrs] | | A Telugu film producer and his associate were arrested Sunday on charges of illegally transporting contraband drug, police said.
Madhapur Police Inspector Srinivas Reddy told media in Hyderabad that K Venkateshwar Rao, a film producer who also runs a real estate business, and his friend Bhojraj were arrested yesterday when they were transporting ‘Ephedrine’, a chemical used in manufacturing narcotic drugs.
Rao and Bhojral, who hails from Hyderabad, were running the illegal business for some time and were transporting the substance to Mumbai for higher rates, the police officer said.
Police seized 30 kgs of ‘Ephedrine’ and a four-wheeler which was used to transport the contraband brought from Karnataka, the Inspector said.
A special team has been deputed to Karnataka to find out the source from where the duo purchased the substance, he said.
