30 shops gutted in Laxmikantopur fire 2010-03-09 [16:14:29 hrs]
At least thirty shops were gutted in an early morning fire near Laxmikantopur station in South 24 Prgannas. A short circuit at one of the shops is believed to have caused the fire that reduced thirty adjoining shops to ashes. Losses have been estimated at Rs 15 lakh. Fire brigade from Diamond Harbour was rushed to the spot. They doused the flames with the help of local residents.
